Let’s Meet in Knoxville!

On behalf of the 2027 Cryogenic Engineering Conference (CEC) and International Cryogenic Materials Conference (ICMC) Boards, it is our distinct pleasure and honor to invite you to attend the 27th joint CEC/ICMC, which will be held June 13–17, 2027 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The conference will be held at the Knoxville Convention Center.

Come and experience a diverse range of cryogenic-related topics that are the foundation of the conference, ranging from basic cryogenic material properties to large-scale applications. Seize the opportunity to meet colleagues, scientists and engineers from research and industry, to share ideas and experiences and to develop collaborations in Knoxville. The technical program will feature the latest research and state-of-the-art developments in all areas of cryogenics, including hydrogen technologies, cryocoolers, cryogenic material properties, superconductivity, as well as transportation, space, medical, magnet and other applications.

Knoxville is home to the famous Sunsphere best known for being built for the 1982 World’s Fair. Its observation deck offers a breathtaking 360-degree view stretching from downtown to the Great Smoky Mountains including World’s Fair Park, the Tennessee River and the University of Tennessee Campus.

Knoxville also offers a vibrant food scene blending Southern tradition with culinary innovation. From downtown to the old city, savor locally sourced ingredients and diverse cuisine crafted by talented chefs. Whether you’re a casual diner or food enthusiast, Knoxville offers something to satisfy every palate.

New Lodging Information for CEC/ICMC 2027

We are updating our housing process for the upcoming conference. Instead of booking rooms through a centralized conference hotel room block, we ask that you book your reservations directly with the hotel of your choice.

Why the change?

  • More choices: There are many great hotel options located within walking distance of the Knoxville Convention Center or a short Uber ride for hotels a little further away.
  • Flexibility: Booking directly lets you select the exact amenities, loyalty rewards, and rates that fit your personal budget and schedule.

  1. Review the map of hotels near the convention center, including those a little further away.
  2. Choose the property that works best for you.
  3. Contact the hotel directly or visit their website to reserve your room, or see places to stay on the Visit Knoxville website.
