Professor William D. Oliver

William D. Oliver, a Physics Professor of the Practice, Lincoln Laboratory Fellow, and RLE Associate Director, is Principal Investigator in the Engineering Quantum Systems Group (MIT campus) and the Quantum Information and Integrated Nanosystems Group (MIT Lincoln Laboratory). He provides programmatic and technical leadership targeting the development of quantum and classical high-performance computing technologies. Will’s research interests include the materials growth, fabrication, design, and measurement of superconducting qubits, as well as the development of cryogenic packaging and control electronics involving cryogenic CMOS and single-flux quantum digital logic. Will is a Fellow of the American Physical Society; a Senior Member of IEEE; serves on the US Committee for Superconducting Electronics; is an IEEE Applied Superconductivity Conference (ASC) Board Member; and is a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Beta Kappa, and Tau Beta Pi. Will received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Stanford University, the SM in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT, and a BS in Electrical Engineering and BA in Japanese from the University of Rochester (NY).

Dr. Amir Jahromi

Dr. Amir Jahromi is at the Cryogenics and Fluids branch in the Instrument Systems & Technology Division, Applied Engineering and technology Directorate at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, in Greenbelt, MD.

Luke Burkhart

Luke Burkhart is a Ph.D. student in Rob Schoelkopf’s superconducting quantum information group at Yale University. His early work in the group centered on understanding and mitigating sources of dissipation and decoherence in superconducting qubits. He now works on developing quantum devices made up of small, modular components. A primary goal is to establish quantum communication between the modules which can tolerate unavoidable information loss in the transmission path. Luke graduated from Harvard College with an A.B. in Physics and Mathematics in 2014, and is a recipient of the ARO/LPS Quantum Computing Graduate Research Fellowship.

Professor Joseph Bardin

Joseph Bardin is Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA and a Visiting Faculty Researcher at Google Inc. His specialty is device modeling and the design of low-power/low-noise electronics for low-temperature applications such as radio astronomy, single photon detection, and quantum computing. He received the B.S.E.E. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2003, the M.S.E.E. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2005, and the Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 2009. He is the recipient of a 2015 ONR Young Investigator Program Award, a 2014 NSF CAREER Award, a 2011 DARPA Young Faculty, the 2016 UMass College of Engineering Outstanding Junior Faculty Award, and a 2016 UMass Convocation Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activities.
