CEC & ICMC Student Meritorious Paper Award

 

It has been a long standing practice of the Cryogenic Engineering Conference (CEC) and the International Cryogenic Materials Conference (ICMC) to present awards to students for outstanding work. The Student Meritorious Paper Award(s) will be presented at the conference. Each winner will receive a printed certificate and a monetary award.

The Student Meritorious Paper Award is awarded to students for outstanding work. Winners will receive a printed certificate and a monetary award.



The 2013 CEC Student Meritorious Paper Award winner is:

Transient Helium II Heat Transfer Through Random-packed Spheres
M. H. Vanderlaan and S. W. Van Sciver

The award will be presented prior to the Tuesday morning plenary session on June 18, 2013.

 

The 2013 ICMC Student Meritorious Paper Award winner is:

Stress-induced Martensitic Transformation during Tensile Test of Full-Size TF Conductor Jacket
Tube at 4.2 K

H. H. Yang, Z. X. Wu, C. J. Huang, R. J. Huang, S.P. Li and L. F. Li

The award will be presented prior to the Wednesday morning plenary session on June 19, 2013.

 


Selection will be competitive and based upon:

  1. Submission of an acceptable manuscript per the CEC/ICMC format.
  2. Letters of recommendation (at least two) from the student’s thesis advisor, dean, and/or other academic advisor. The letters must include:
    • a summary of the student’s capabilities and accomplishments,
    • an assessment of the amount of the presented work that is actually attributable to the student,
    • a personal evaluation of the studentʼs potential as a professional cryogenic engineer/scientist.
    • award winners must personally present their paper at the conference to receive the cash award and certificate.

The deadline for Student Meritorious Paper submissions is April 13, 2013.
